Alan and I worked together managing several development teams for a large enterprise client contract.
I describe Alan as a thoughtful and sincere servant leader, with a soft and calming demeanor. Alan presents a face of stability and confidence,
always motivating and inspiring, without excuse or criticism. His approach to leadership is one of empowerment and enablement. It can be easier to jump in than to intentionally, and patiently, teach and coach others ; he did a very good job developing future leaders in that way.
I appreciate Alan's ability to "fill in the gaps". He looks for what is being missed, or needs more attention, and inserts himself to get that job done.
I could always
count on Alan to give me constructive feedback on ways I could improve as a leader, something he delivers with gentle tact.
Alan and I worked together managing several development teams for a large enterprise client contract, and I was very grateful for that time, because of both his
effectiveness as a leader, and for the opportunity to learn from his perspective and experiences. I describe Alan as a thoughtful and sincere servant leader, with a soft and
calming demeanor. Even under pressure, Alan presents a face of stability and confidence, always motivating and inspiring, without excuse or criticism. And he is excellent at
follow through; not sweeping incidents under the rug to hope they would not repeat, but investigating cause, crafting plans, and putting them to action. His approach to
leadership is one of empowerment and enablement. It can be easier to jump in "to help fix things", than to intentionally, and patiently, teach and coach others on self
awareness and self improvement; he did a very good job developing future leaders in that way. From his first days onboarding to the team I was impressed with how thoughtful he
was, taking time to consider alternatives, asking good, challenging questions, and not just accepting the status quo and checking boxes. Something I really appreciate is Alan's
ability to "fill in the gaps". He does not keep himself busy with just necessary work, or just handle the "expected tasks", but he looks for what is being missed, or needs more
attention, and inserts himself to get that job done. He earns the respect of his teams, and his peers, by demonstrating empathy and sincerity, and advocating for his teams, and
their needs and well being. I could always count on Alan to give me constructive feedback on ways I could improve as a leader, something he delivers with gentle tact, to his
reports, peers, and senior leadership. It was truly a privilege to have worked with Alan.
